The Caribbean garden has been developed in authentic West Indian style.
The seaside garden has been constructed from 100 years old water worn timbers
salvaged from nearby sea defences and includes a working model of the
Newhaven lifeboat station. Strolling along the path, a surprise unfolds at almost every turn.

The planthouses are often compared with the plant houses of Kew
and Wisley. The complex contains a large and varied collection of the
world's flora, divided into several zones illustrating different habitats.

The desert gardens of South Africa and America lead into the more temperate area of the Mediterranean and northern Europe. Bromeliads, African succulents, Mediterranean fruits and Australasian flora are just a few of the unique plant collections  on display.
The alpine border has been created fron volcanic lava imported from Iceland.

Koi ponds form a tranquil setting for the Oriental garden.
The Italian garden illustrates the formal European style of the 18th century.
A cool fernery features many stunning ferns.
The Hydroponics System demonstrates the cultivation of plants  without using soil.

As a member of the worldwide network of Botanic Gardens Conservation International, plant material is regularly exchanged for conservation and the plant collections are forever changing with new plants being introduced.

Many plants can be purchased from the garden centre.
